Do you want drinks this Christmas, that everyone will be talking about for a while, for all the right reasons?
Last week, I talked about how to make a yummy Christmas meal if you’re on a budget.
Many years ago, when I was a student at the Federal Polytechnic Bida, I made fresh fruit juices from mangoes and oranges. I also made zobo drinks and other fruit juices based on availability of the fruits. I particularly loved to make mango juice then; I put in more effort climbing the trees to pluck ripe ones.
This holiday season, there are so many drinks you can make without breaking the bank. Plus, they are easy to do.
– 1 1/2 cup ice
– 1/2 cup diced pineapple
– 2 ounces pineapple juice
– 1 1/2 ounces light rum
– 1 ounce dark rum
– Pineapple slices
Directions: Put the ice, frozen pineapple, juice, coconut cream, and rums into a blender. Blend till smooth and frosty. Pour the drink into two glasses, garnish the rim with pineapple slices. Serve with or without alcohol, as desired.
– 4 sugar cubes
– 1 bottle Angostura bitters
– 1 bottle of chilled champagne
– Lemon twists for garnishing (optional)
Directions: Take a single sugar cube and while holding it over the opening of the bottle of Angostura bitters, invert the bottle so that some soaks directly into the sugar. Drop the sugar into the bottom of a chilled champagne flute, then fill the glass with champagne. Garnish with a lemon twist, if desired. Repeat the process three more times to end with four drinks.
